This week we are working on the fifth chakra in our series, the Throat Chakra.

The Throat Chakra is the colour blue and it is all about speaking your truth.  So what does that mean?

Speaking your truth always comes from the heart.  It is never hateful, vitriol, violent, malicious, deceitful, manipulative, these are words that come from the ego. 

Your truth is what lies underneath your ego’s anger, justification and righteousness.  It’s expressing how you feel, your love, fears, vulnerability, compassion and always from the heart.  You may risk confrontation but truth from the heart always prevails. 

Mantra, breath work and asanas that open the throat are some of the best ways to open the Throat Chakra.

There’s a  beautiful Iranian proverb above that I believe sums it up perfectly. 

“There’s an Iranian proverb about words that fly.  It says that if words are false, if they are self serving, if they came from ambition they will never fly.  Even if they are shouted from the loud speakers, even if everyone says them at exact same time, they will soon be forgotten.  For they have no soul, they have no jaan. But if a person can find the right words, if the words have ahang, if the words have kherad, if the words have rasti, they will grow wings and they will fly.  Even if they are censored, they will fly.  Even if they are silenced they will fly. Even if they are buried deep in the ground they will still fly.  And they will reach the doorstep of every household.”
