The Art of Surrender, Full Moon and Eclipse Season begins, New Timetable and Kundalini Yoga Festival.
Sat Nam,
We’re in for a big couple of weeks if the planatory action is anything to go by! On top of a number of planet retrogrades we are experiencing, on Tuesday morning at 4.10am we have a full moon in Aquarius and the eclipse season begins with a lunar eclipse bringing with it some tense yet powerful energy for transformation.
I thought this would be a perfect time to talk about surrender. I’ve been thinking allot about surrender lately because I’ve realised I find it difficult to just surrender to a situation good or bad, and I’m aware my body is often tense and on high alert waiting for the next move. In order to flow we must surrender and allow the tides to take us but I seem to be the swimmer who is constantly in a forced swim towards my goal, even when the tide is taking me in the direction I want to go. Lately when I notice this I have been making a conscious effort to relax and surrender to the moment.
I found that practicing surrendering to the pose through my yoga sessions has helped greatly. When I feel my body tense and go into fight mode to get me through a difficult set I consciously relax and surrender to the discomfort, the boredom, the desperation, the want, the excitement, the joy, the anger and all the other things that come up through my practice. I take that moment to consciously relax my muscles, focus on my third eye (my place of neutrality) and allow the pose to take me. The feeling of connection and flow that comes over me may only last for a second at a time, but I’ve found the more I practice this both on the mat and in life the longer I can stay in that zone.
From what I’ve read and heard, this eclipse season is going to be intense and it will bring rapid change to allot of us. This is a great time to practice the art of surrender and allow the flow of this powerful eclipse energy to carry us to our next destination. I found there’s no point resisting what’s to come, because we eventually get to where we are meant to go anyway so why not just sit back, relax and enjoy the ride!
This week to celebrate the start of the eclipse season, I begin my new class at Soul Flow Yoga at the new time of 7.15pm on Tuesday night. I’ll be teaching a beautiful class to bring in magic for this eclipse season.
The Kundalini Yoga Collective will be running it’s 2nd biannual Kundalini Yoga Festival from Friday 29 September to Monday 2 October at Mangrove Yoga Centre.
