The Throat Chakra

Sat Nam,

How’s everyone feeling after that powerful lunar eclipse last week?  It was a great one for cutting through the bullshit so you can face the reality of your situations and coupled with working on the Heart Chakra it sure did shake some stuff up and clear it out.  Better out than in I say!

So this week we will be exploring our fifth Chakra in our series, the Throat Chakra (Vishuddha)

The throat chakra is the colour blue ???and it’s about conscious communication, about speaking your truth and it’s one of the most common Chakras to be blocked because speaking your truth can be hard and brings up a lot of fear, especially when you’re someone that likes to please or hates confrontation.

The throat chakra is the energy channel you use to communicate your hearts desires. Your voices are the instrument you use to share what you feel inside and through conversation, song, poetry, stories, speeches, mantra, teaching, presentations etc you can connect to others as a way of being heard.  This a a chakra that communicates your creativity.

How you use your voices and your words is so important as what you say, the tone of your voice, the power and conviction of your words can have a massive affect on yourself and the people around you.

The Throat Chakra when balanced allows you to speak your truth and be creative with your words and tone.  It communicates from your heart how you feel, your ideas and your needs. When open your words and their vibration are authentic, genuine, compassionate, come from the heart and  project your authenticity.  When unbalanced your words and tone come from the ego and you can be either unable to express yourself or too talkative, harsh in communication, pushy with your opinions, overly righteous and interruptive.

“The impact the Throat Chakra has is really amazing if you think about it. If all the most influential people throughout history never opened their mouth or wrote their ideas down, we wouldn’t know who they are and what all their great thoughts were. What one expresses themselves in the world can live on forever. We all have something great to contribute.

The Throat Chakra also has to do with communication and creativity. It is our right to be heard.” Nihal Singh

Chanting any mantra is a great way to open the Throat Chakra.  The mantra for this chakra is Humee Hum Brahm Hum chanted without using the tip of the tongue at all and the posture is neck rolls.  This is affective in opening the throat chakra and clearing the energy channel to the brain and higher centres.
