Sat Nam, This week we work on in my opinion, the most important chakra the…
You never know what’s around the corner…
Sat Nam,
How many times have you been stuck in a rut living Ground Hog Day, coasting along content as you go through the motions of life, staying safe in your comfort zone and then something comes along that pole volts you out into the abyss of the unknown and uncertainty?
I’ve had it happen throughout my whole life as I’m sure we all have and as someone who likes to have control that can be pretty scary.
That is life. Life is uncertain. There is no certainty except for uncertainty, and as humans with egos we like certainty and try to control and make plans, but as the saying goes, “Want to make God laugh, tell him your plans”.
Every experience we have whether it is thrown at us or we make the decision to do, is for us to learn and grow. This planet is often referred to as earth school and I like to think of it that way and our experiences are the lessons.
So if there is no certainty does that mean we have no control? We do have control on how we react to things, we don’t have control of the outcome. Sometimes it goes our way and sometimes it doesn’t.
The beauty of uncertainty is you never know what’s around the corner and it doesn’t have to be all bad. It could be the job you’ve always wanted, the partner you’ve longed for, the baby, the friend, the home, travel opportunities, a new hobby, your purpose, a magical sunset, and the list goes on.
Kundalini Yoga is a great teacher for embracing the unknown. There are over 1000 different Kriyas so when you walk into a class you don’t know what you will get. The moment you sit on the mat you become vulnerable as you ready yourself for what’s to come.
Some classes are physical, some lots of breath, some strong, some gentle but each and every class is an experience to learn about yourself and grow. I’ve never walked away from a class saying I wish I hadn’t gone.
Embracing the unknown is embracing vulnerability and the opportunity for new and exciting adventures. As Brené Brown says if you embrace vulnerability there will be stumbles, failure, pain and heartbreak but there will also be joy, love and connection. And that makes it all worth while.

We only have a few weeks left in the year as we ready ourselves for a new year.
For me this year has been a rollercoaster ride and I lost a lot of what gave me comfort and security. What kept me steady was my family, friends and my yoga practice and I’m so thankful for that.
So next year is about new beginnings. I will be finishing up teaching regular classes at My Asana this year. I love the studio and Asnat who owns it and I’m so grateful to teach there. I will continue to do covers and workshops at the studio so watch for announcements.
Next year from February, on Tuesday nights at 6.30pm, I will be starting a series that I plan to move into a regular class that will run in line with school terms at The Bay Room in Double Bay. I’m finalising dates and will confirm soon.
I will also continue my monthly Stress and Vitality Workshop at Botannix and have Friday, 17 February at 7.00pm already booked.
Until then there will still be Sunday 9.30am and Monday 6.30pm classes at My Asana with Bridget (and me covering when she’s away) up until Christmas.
Please email me if you have any questions
See you on the mat. ❤️
Love
