I’m back teaching!  Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo, bowing to our wisdom within.

Sat Nam,

Spring is here, the sun is shining and I’m excited to be back teaching on the mat this Tuesday!

It’s been a great two month break and I really appreciate Prue stepping in so I could take some time.

This week I want to talk about the Adi mantra we tune in with before our practice “Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo”.

“Adi means the first or primal and mantra is the creative projection of the mind through sounds”. I like to think of mantra as sounds of the soul.

When I first started this yoga and we would chant this mantra the words and sounds would touch my soul. They felt so familiar to me yet I didn’t know what they meant. The meaning is “I bow to the divine wisdom of all that there is. I bow to the teacher within.”.

When I found out the meaning it cemented my connection to this practice because it wasn’t asking me to find wisdom from or bow to an external guru it was asking me to find the answers from within. I loved that because at the beginning of every class it reminded me that the answers were within me and it meant I now took responsibility for my life and the direction it would take. It was empowering.

It’s so important to me to tune in as it really opens the practice for me. If ever I’m late to class and they’ve already tuned in, I’ll still sit and tune in to set me for the class ahead.

Kundalini Yoga for me is so much more than postures and movement, it has taught me and continues to teach who I am, what makes me tick and what I need to clear. It’s one of the main tools that hold me up so I can live my best life. It’s the complete package!
