Summer Solstice is the longest day of the year, the one day of the year…
“When the time is on you start and the pressure will be off.”
Sat Nam,
This week we are working on the third Sutra in our series “When the time is on you start and the pressure will be off”.
There are many reasons and excuses people give themselves for not starting something in their lives that needs starting such as a project, a diet, changing of habit or point of view that is keeping you stuck.
It could be procrastination because you don’t know how to start or you are fearful of starting because starting something new takes you into a world of uncertainty and uncertainty may make you feel vulnerable and that can be scary. It could be stubbornness, laziness, fear, justification and the list of reasons and excuses goes on.
Whatever the reason or excuse if the pressure to start something is on you, just start because only by moving forward can you make change.
Years ago I went to a leadership conference and the speaker was talking about a situation when he started a new role. There was a project that had been put on hold for years because the team couldn’t make a decision whether to start it as the outcome could critically affect the company if it was the wrong decision to start. He came in and started the project and there were issues but what he said was it was by starting that they were able to move forward, learn from those issues and divert into a different direction which they wouldn’t have seen if they hadn’t made the decision to start in the first place.
Having a decision hang over your head creates a block. Staying stuck in procrastination doesn’t move you forward and it’s in the flow of moving you learn and grow. Every decision you make is scary because everything is uncertain when you move forward into the unknown. It’s scary but also exciting because all possibility lie in the vastness of the unknown, and it allows the universe to unfold its miracles.
Bottom line starting allows you to move forward.
If there’s something you been wanting to start whatever that is take the first step. That’s the hardest one to take but once taken the flow of next steps will come.
As Martin Luther King says “Take the first step in faith, you don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”
