The Power of Compassion

This week we are working on the virtue of compassion.
We have a Sutra in yoga that is given to us for the Aquarian Age, “Understand through compassion or you’ll misunderstand the times” and for the times we are in now, I feel this is so relevant.
Compassion comes from the heart and is powerful as it breaks down barriers within us that allows us to unite as human beings. It doesn’t discriminate, turn a blind eye, or justify who deserves it and who doesn’t, it is for every living being and it starts with yourself.
To have compassion for another person you must have compassion for yourself first. Having compassion for yourself allows you to feel the feels that are causing you suffering and when you allow yourself to feel it’s when the healing happens that break down barriers within you.
When you have mastered having compassion for yourself you then have an understanding of how someone else may be feeling so you can support them and feel their feels without taking them on as your own. This can be difficult if you haven’t resolved your own pain as it can trigger emotions that you may not want to deal with so you close off. Having compassion for yourself is crucial for you to have compassion for others.
The Aquarian Age is about coming together as one planet and compassion is one of the most powerful tools to unite us as human beings and right now the world needs to unite more than ever.
