Happy Chinese New Year of the Dragon!

Sat Nam,

Happy Chinese New Year of the Wood Dragon.  In Chinese culture dragons symbolise good luck, strength and power.  Wood is associated with moral and ethics.  This combination will hopeful see a year where globally the planet, which has been loud with unrest, begin to veer towards a more compassionate global chant for peace.

There’s a saying in yoga “If you can’t see God in all, you can’t see God at all’.  God can be a triggering word for some, so I like to also think of this as “if you can’t see light in all, you can’t see light at all”.

Right now on the planet there is loud voices vilifying one group of people over another and most feel they are doing this from a righteous place of protecting the group of people they are supporting.

The thing is by vilifying one group of people to support another we lose our compassion for humanity as a whole, (because compassion doesn’t discriminate) and our ability to see the light in all this world has to offer.

The only way we will find peace is by seeing the light in all as a collective and most importantly connecting to our own beautiful light.

Dr Brian Weiss tells a story about having a dream where the masters come to him and he asked them if we all have the same soul within us then why are people so different, some good, some not so good, some happy, some sad, etc.  The masters explained that we all have the same soul like a diamond with 1000 facets but some people have lots of dirt on the facets blocking the light of their diamond and others diamond’s facets are cleaner, so their light shines through.

I like to think of Kundalini Yoga as housekeeping for my diamond.  Each Kriya, meditation, mantra and breath work, clearing through the dirt so my light shines through.

We all have a diamond within us and it’s up to us to clear through the dirt in order for our light to shine.  The world is in desperate need of our collective light.
