This week we are working on the second Sutra in our series There is a way through every block.
Each time I do a series I sit with what we are working on to see if anything new comes up. My realisation for this Sutra is the only way through any block is to surrender to it. A block is only a block no matter what it is, if we have resistance because in resistance we block the flow of energy which blocks us from joy, new opportunities and our truth.
Blocks can be caused by fear, anger, impatience, justification, hate, anything that puts your body into resistance.
Think about a time you have been stuck in traffic and got worked up about it. You may have been angry or impatient because you needed to be somewhere. Think about how your body felt in resistance. Now think about a time you were stuck in the same sort of traffic but you accepted the situation, had no resistance and went with the flow. The energy in your body would have changed you may have sung to the music on the radio, had a great conversation with a friend or come up with some great new ideas. When in resistance you limit your flow and through surrendering and letting go of the resistance the blocks dissipate and the flow brings in ways forward.
There are stories of people in prison who found the greatest freedom and peace through surrendering to their situation. Don’t get me wrong I find it incredibly hard to move through blocks that bring up the most resistance, fear, anger etc but when I do surrender the block disappears as I accept my situation and new paths appear.
Kundalini Yoga is a great tool to teach us to move through blocks. On the mat our resistance comes up and we have the opportunity to practice surrendering to that resistance so it then dissolves.
Joseph Campbell has a saying “Follow your bliss and doors will open where there were once walls.” In order to follow your bliss you have to surrender to the resistance. Flow brings bliss and bliss brings all things possible.
