Summer Solstice is the longest day of the year, the one day of the year…
Where do you see yourself in five years? ?
Sat Nam,
How’s everyone doing? With the ease in restrictions I’m starting to feel a change in the air. Just goes to show, nothing stays the same, good or bad.
This week I had a job interview (wish me luck!?) and I was asked a standard interview question, where do you see yourself in five years.
I’ve always found this to be an interesting question and one that with the experience of life I find harder to answer. As the saying goes “want to make God laugh, tell him your plans.”
One thing I know for sure, where I have seen myself in five years in the past has never been exactly where I have ended up. The thing I have noticed though is where I see myself now has always moulded my future.
The present and being present in the present (how’s that for a play on words! Lol) is the greatest tool you have for creating your desired future, but be prepared for the uncertainty that life will throw at you.
It’s also often the things you do that you don’t think matter much at the time that can have a profound affect on your future.
Steve Jobs does a great speech where he talks about how you can only see the pivotal points in your life by looking back. When he was young he left college and did a calligraphy course for no other reason than he enjoyed it and unbeknownst to him at the time, that course would shape a lot of what he did with fonts at Apple.
I look back at courses and jobs I have done, relationships I’ve had and I realise that they have all been an integral part to where I am now. Some may have felt insignificant at the time for my future plans, but they have shaped my 5 years ahead.
So where do you see yourself now and how will this shape your five years ahead?
Write it down and surprise yourself about where you actually end up. ?
I’m missing seeing you in class but until then (which hopefully will be soon!?) join me in class online at www.sydneyyogacollective.com. All info is on the website.
I’m also running one on one online sessions. If you’re interested reply to this email for a chat.
Stay well and see you on the mat. ❤️
Love,
Adette
