Summer Solstice is the longest day of the year, the one day of the year…
What have you learned from living in a time of Corona?
Sat Nam,
How’s everyone holding up?
It’s been such a crazy time and life as we knew it has changed so dramatically in such a short time.
What amazes me is how quickly everyone has adapted to this new way of living.
If you had told me this time last year that
?I would be spending most of my time at home,
?I would be teaching to a camera,
?I would be out of work;
?social distancing and those words would be a thing!,
?there would be a toilet paper shortage,
?I would be visiting my mum through a screen door,
?my dinner with friends would be on zoom,
?shopping for my food would be like running the gauntlet,
?my beautiful beach would be closed indefinitely, and
?I would be wearing a mask and sanitising everything whenever I left the house,
well I would’ve thought that’s crazy talk!
Except it’s not, it’s reality and as a majority we’ve adapted.
Never in the history of the world has the humans on this planet been more united.
This virus doesn’t discriminate which makes us all vulnerable and it’s in our vulnerability that we have all connected as we work together to do our part to beat this thing and to hold each other up.
Yes there’s moments of frustration, panic and fear, but what I’m witnessing as a majority is a world that is coming together.
The earth itself is also getting a much needed breather. I truly feel that it got to a crisis point where Mother Nature had had enough of being abused and sent us inside so she could regroup. And good on her, we needed a time out for how we’ve behaved towards her.
We will come out the other end and when we do I hope we take with us what we’ve learned.
I have learned
?that as a planet we can change, we are adaptable and it’s the fear of change not the change itself that has stopped us from making necessary changes to support each other and this planet.
?what is truly important in life and what my priorities are.
?that I am adaptable.
?that I am strong.
?that there is a way through every block.
?that if I keep up, I’ll be kept up.
?the importance of taking care of myself and keeping healthy.
?that freedom is not how far I can travel outside but the peace I find within whilst staying inside.
?that it’s important to make time to do the things I love.
?that I miss the presence of my friends and family and I’m looking forward to us all being together again
and
?that hugs, cuddles and kisses are the best (I always knew that!?) and I’ll never take them for granted again.
I have a gratitude practice that I do and never before have I appreciated or been so grateful for my blessings. I have realised I have way more blessings to be grateful for than what I was appreciating and I’m truly blessed.
What have you learned?
What will you take with you?
What will you never take for granted again? and
What are you grateful for that you never realised before?
*The photo is one I took of my beautiful Clovelly Beach. It’s closed at the moment but will open again and when it does I’ll be loving every moment of being there!
