The Brain and Nervous System, and the early bird for Byron has been extended!

Sat Nam,

What a week that was with the powerful full moon in Taurus doing a massive sweep of what was stuck and moving it right along!  I myself felt the shift as I moved from feeling the stubborn stickiness of being stuck (say that 10 times fast!?) to the beautiful flow as I began to move on forward again.  The feeling of being in my flow instantly brought with it a sense of peace and new and exciting opportunity as doors opened.

This week we start working on the brain and nervous system.  These are two areas of the body that are closely linked and greatly and obviously affect our well being if out of balance.

Yogi Bhajan says the mind serves us, we do not serve the mind and this is what Kundalini Yoga can help teach us to master.  Our thoughts have such a profound affect on how we view the world.  One negative thought if we let it, can snow ball into what we perceive is a catastrophe and in turn trigger the nervous system’s fight/flight mechanism to then cause anxiety, anger and sometimes depression.

Kundalini Yoga works very strongly on both the mind and the nervous system.  For example when we are asked to stay in downward facing dog for an extended period of time and our mind starts to object and tell us all kinds of stories as to why we can’t do this, we are given an opportunity to master our mind rather than our mind master us.  The longer we stay in this posture can cause our body to shake and this is also an opportunity for the nervous system to adjust itself and bring balance.

Before Kundalini Yoga as many of you know I suffered from debilitating anxiety and panic attacks.  Through regular practice over the years I no longer experience the severety of these attacks.  If I do become anxious I nip it in the bud by take myself back to the mat and am amazed at how quickly my anxiety subsides.

I think of my mat at my school for life where I can become acutely aware of my self talk.  In my safe space I practice mastering my thoughts rather than my thoughts mastering me, so I can better handle everyday life situations that come my way before they spiral out of control taking me to a place of angst.

How aware are you of the affect your thoughts have on your wellbeing?

We have extended the early bird for our retreat until the end of the month!

I’m so looking forward to our beautiful Byron Retreat, The Power of ‘I am’ with myself, Yogi Maya and Lisa Sampson that we are holding in the magnificent space of Temple Byron in Byron Bay.  If you have never been to Temple Byron, this place is something to be experienced!  The grounds are covered in crystals, Buddha’s and fauna and the vibration of energy permeating from here is just sublime!  A perfect setting to work on discovering the true essence of our being.

We will be working on the Power of each of our ‘I ams’ individually and collectively as a group using the transformative technology of Kundalini Yoga and meditation.  We will also share some fun activities to help us explore our Sat Nam (our truth) and help us realise our unique gifts.

As teachers we all offer our own unique gifts and insights to share with you on the journey of discovering your ‘I ams’ and the fact that this retreat will fall on 11.11 a gateway for transformation makes what we we will create as a group even more powerful!

The retreat is non residential and we are happy to help make suggestions for accommodation near Temple Byron which is a ten minute drive from the centre of town.  We will be providing dinner on the Saturday night at one of Byron’s favourite restaurants.

This retreat is sure to book out and we’ve so get in quick!
