Summer Solstice is the longest day of the year, the one day of the year…
Happy Equinox, 40 days of Wholesomeness – The Colon, and our Byron Retreat
Sat nam,
Happy Equinox! Last night we had an amazing workshop led by Yogi Maya and with Josh on the didgeridoo and drums. It was a sound bath from heaven and the vibration running through the studio was epic! A great start to the season of Spring and new beginnings.
And what a great time to be embarking on our Spring Cleanse in the studio, the 40 Days of Wholesomeness and to kick it of we begin by working on the colon.
So let’s talk about crap! The colon or lower intestine is where our waste is processed and eliminated both on a physical and energetic level. It’s connected to our root chakra where we tend to hold a lot of fear and it represents letting go. This is as an area of release and when blocked either physically or energetically it causes retention of toxins, stagnate energy and unresolved emotional issues. It is one of the areas in our body that physically tells us what’s going on with us energetically.
Louise Hayes says in her book ‘How To Heal Your Life’ the Colon represents fear of letting go, holding on to the past. She says when it is constipated this means refusing to release old ideas, stuck in the past and sometimes stinginess. On the reverse she says diarrhoea means fear of rejection and running off.
In Chinese medicine the colon is connected to the first meridian which begins with the lung. So any work opening and releasing the lung area will benefit the colon and vice versa.
When we hold onto old crap it blocks our way forward and eats into us on both a physical and energetic level. Releasing allows a clear pathway and flow of energy that invites the new into our lives. So this week on the mat let’s focus on what we need to release, clear our paths and trust in the the new exciting adventures that are waiting for us.

I’m so looking forward to our beautiful Byron Retreat, The Power of ‘I am’ with myself, Yogi Maya and Lisa Samson in the magnificent space of Temple Byron in Byron Bay. If you have never been to Temple Byron, this place is something to be experienced! The grounds are covered in crystals, Buddha’s and fauna and the vibration of energy permeating from here is just sublime! A perfect setting to work on discovering the true essence of our being.
We will be working on the Power of each of our ‘I ams’ individually and collectively as a group using the transformative technology of Kundalini Yoga and meditation. We will also share some fun activities to help us explore our Sat Nam (our truth) and help us realise our unique gifts.
As teachers we all offer our own unique gifts and insights to share with you on the journey of discovering your ‘I ams’ and the fact that this retreat will fall on 11.11 a gateway for transformation makes what we we will create as a group even more powerful!
The retreat is non residential and we are happy to help make suggestions for accommodation near Temple Byron which is a ten minute drive from the centre of town. The Planula a B&B next door to the retreat has kindly offered us a 10% discount, so just mention you’re in our retreat when booking. We will be providing dinner on the Saturday night at one of Byron’s favourite restaurants.
