Summer Solstice is the longest day of the year, the one day of the year…
Yogi Bhajan Birthday Celebrations, Movie Night and the 4th Sutra ‘Understand through compassion or you’ll misunderstand the times’
Sat Nam,
This week’s going to be a big one with lots on! Mercury’s finally moving forward, I can find my keys again and all’s right with the world! ?. We’ve been on a bit of a roller coaster energetically but this week as we enter the full moon in Pisces we start to see things pan out. Pisces is the sign of dreams and it’s time to dream big because the coming months will see a lot of our dreams take action.
As synchronicity would have it Yogi Bhajan’s Birthday also falls on the full moon this year, so it’s almost like he’s blessing our dreams! To celebrate these two wonderful events, Yogi Maya and I will be hosting a Full Moon/Yogi Bhajan Birthday Celebration on Sunday evening at 6.30pm at Soul Flow Yoga. There will be yoga, 31 minutes of ‘Guru Guru Wahe Guru, Guru Ram Das Guru’ Yogi Bhajan’s person mantra to honour him on his special day, of course long delicious gong and cake!
On Sunday morning at 5.00am as tradition goes, we will be chanting 2.5 hours of long Ek Ong Kars for Sadhana. This will be held at Soul Flow Yoga for those of us on the East side and Qi Yoga, Manly for those on the North side and both are free events. For those of you who haven’t experienced Long Ek Ong Kars, it’s incredibly powerful and I highly recommend it. In the East we will head out for some breakie afterwards.
We also have our first movie night on Friday night, which will be by donation. We will be showing the film May I be Frank which is a documentary about Frank, a man who walks into the Gratitude Cafe in San Francisco broken, unwell, overweight and unhappy with one wish, to fall in love again. The boys in the cafe challenge him to a 40 day journey of transformation. This movie has it all, laughs, tears, lessons and I dare you not to fall in love with Frank, he’s such a character!
We also embark on the 4th Sutra in our series, ‘Understand through compassion or you will misunderstand the times’. This I feel is the foundation of all the Sutras, especially in these current times.
Yogi Bhajan clarified this sutra when he said “we need to understand through compassion—instead of passion—or we will misunderstand. Passions are like tides coming and going. The mind can’t be steady because the tidal waves of passion will always take the mind up, down, and all around. Compassion is like a trade wind carrying you across an infinite ocean. Turn your passions into compassion by feeling others are you and you are others. Remove the barriers of the egocentric self and feel the self in all. All is one and one is all. It is only when you come from your heart that your words can penetrate every heart. When a being becomes totally a being of compassion, then his words can shake every heart, they penetrate. It is the touch of the hand, a spoken word and the contact of the eyes which open the heart of the man, not the knowledge of all the libraries in the world.” – Yogi Bhajan
