Third Sutra – ‘When the time is on you start and the pressure will be off’

Sat Nam,

Well we’ve finally come to the end of the eclipse trilogy that began back in July.   For me it’s been intense, enlightening and exhilarating and doors have opened that its now time for me to step through to begin the next exciting chapter towards my purpose here on this planet.  So as timing is always divine, it’s the perfect time to be working on the third Sutra in our series on the Sutras of the Aquarian Age ‘When the time is on you, start, and the pressure will be off’.

A great example of this for me was becoming a yoga teacher.  In the beginning.each step on my teaching journey has been tentative with a fair bit of procrastination in between.  I deliberated on the decision to do teacher training for months and on the close off date of payment I literally ran into the studio to sign up, although at that point I never intended on becoming a teacher.

Once training was completed the call to teach became strong but I was scared. I’ve always had a fear of presenting in front of others, scared I’d bottle it and not know what to do or say, so at first I wouldn’t teach. But it was my time to teach and deep down I knew that, so the calling to teach kept getting stronger. I would sit in class and imagine myself up the front as the teacher and feel disappointed that I didn’t have the courage to do it, whilst also justifying to myself why it wasn’t for me.

One day that pressure got to much and I thought what’s the worst that can happen, and I bit the bullet and taught my first class. Although I was still hesitant for a while, once I really got started the momentum took me and I found my groove. The more I taught the more I wanted to teach and doors of opportunity to teach started opening for me and here I am today, a regular teacher. I often think about how it was just the decision to start that got me going.

A great training ground for starting something is on my mat. When I’m asked to start a difficult posture or Kriya, I often hesitate, but once I start and get into it, the momentum takes over and I feel the pressure of how am I going to do this leave me.  I may stop and start through the process, but once I’ve begun, well there’s no turning back from that.

Yogi Bhajan predicted the Aquarian Age would be full of unrest and from what we are witnessing his predictions are pretty spot on.  It’s a time when people are rising up and wanting to make a difference on this planet.  I know just in my community there’s a number of people with amazing gifts to share who are wanting to get them out into the world.  I believe Yogi Bhajan gave us this Sutra for the Aquarian Age as the time is on us now to start sharing our gifts to make this planet a better place and a lot of us are blocked to do so but are feeling the pressure.  This is when we start even if it’s a small step like me teaching my first class, the momentum will build and as Joseph Campbell says “doors will open where there were once walls.”
