Summer Solstice is the longest day of the year, the one day of the year…
The Fifth Body in our Ten Body Series – The Physical Body
Sat Nam,
Let’s get Physical! Yes this week we’ve arrived at the 5th body in our series, the Physical Body.
Although I won’t be playing the Olivia Newton John soundtrack or wearing leg warmers and Fluro tights (though how much fun would that be! Lol) we will be getting physical in class this week as we work on the Physical body.
The Physical Body is the vehicle for our soul in this life and like our car it requires regular maintenance, usage and clean fuel to achieve optimum results. Each breath we take replenishes our Praha and oxygenates the blood, each movement we make keeps the body supple, the joints juiced and the blood pumping and each stretch keeps the muscles, tendons and life nerve flexible and we can maintain all of this through Kundalini Yoga. We also have allot of specific movements and stretches for the spine and this is because the spine is so important as one it holds us up and two it carries our Kundalini energy that lives at the bottom of the spine via the spinal fluid like a river up the spine and through the chakras.
It is also so important to be aware of what we put into our bodies and yogis will tend to maintain a Sattvic diet which consists of fresh organic fruits and vegetables and avoids processed food and food that has been sprayed with chemicals such as pesticides. I’ve found that the more I practiced Kundalini Yoga the more aware I have become of my body and what works for it and what doesn’t and since I began practicing I don’t eat red meat, gravitate towards veggies, rarely eat processed foods and barely drink alcohol. Each person is different, so it’s so important to listen to your body and to feed it with what works for you.
What do you do to maintain the optimum health of your physical body?
